The Use of Tags for Vehicle in India



RFID or Radio Frequency Identification is a technology that makes use of wireless communication for establishing the identify of an object. RFID is the term that is used for describing a system that transfers the data or identity of a certain object wirelessly by making use of radio waves. This identity or information regarding an object is available in the form of an exclusive serial number or Electronic Product Code.  The use of RFID card India offers wireless identification of assets, books and people. Different Varieties of RFID Tags

However, there are three important frequency bands used for RFID and they are as follows:


· High Frequency- The high frequency bands are available at 13.56 MHz and they are used where read and medium read rate ranges up to around 1.5 meters are acceptable. High frequency is highly advantageous mainly because it is not susceptible to interferences that occur due to the presence of metals and water.

·         Low Frequency- These come in a range between 125 and 134 KHz. The low frequency bands are used for access control. They are also the most common tags for vehicle in India. Bands with low frequency are also used in school attendance systems.

·         Ultra-High-Frequency- The ultra high frequency bands come in a range between 850 MHz and 950 MHz. They provide the longest read range of around 3 meters along with high reading speeds.

Active and Passive RFID tags

Then there are active RFID tags and passive RFID tags. The active tags are ones that run on batteries. They carry out the task of broadcasting signals to the reader and transmitting data over great distances. The active RFID tags are a bit more expensive in comparison to passive RFID tags. They are majorly used for tracking high value products like large containers and vehicles. One common application of these tags is in shipboard containers. On the other hand, the passive RFID tags are not battery powered. They get their energy from the radio frequency waves that are transmitted by the readers.
